For the Whitney Museum’s “Roy Lichtenstein: Like New” exhibition, David Yurman invited us to pay tribute to the artist who brought the mass-printed image into the museum. Echoing Lichtenstein’s gesture in reverse, we translated the singular object of fine jewelry into his grammar of mass reproduction. The challenge was to set in motion a visual language he conceived for the still page, frame by frame in 2D, while preserving the precision of each piece, entirely redrawn in his style.
