Our mission on Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness was to illustrate several parts of the story in 2D, both those devoted to the Chickenhare people and those recounting the founding myth of the magical marmot. The main challenge was to stay true to the 3D characters, not only the ones seen on screen but also those that exist solely within the 2D sequences, such as the Chickenhare people. The idea was to transport viewers into another temporality, enriching the film and fueling their imagination. Nwave’s choice to embrace a mixed-media approach was meant to strengthen the narrative dimension of the film, with the use of different mediums serving the storytelling itself. A huge thank you to Nwave for their trust; it was an honor and a true pleasure to collaborate with them on this wonderful project!
